Luke Davies won the Expert Plus class after missing two rounds

The sixth round of the ATVs Only MCF British XC Championship, supported by GML ATV, took place at another new-to-DQR venue at Shay Gate Farm in Colne, Lancashire. A mixture of woodland, open countryside and multiple water hazards awaited the riders.

The Youth race kicked off the day on Sunday morning in near-perfect racing conditions. The race duration was one and a half hours and the results saw a reverse of the round five results with Daniel Burrows taking the win in the 250cc Hybrid class and Tom Bainbridge having to settle for second this time around. The 250cc category again witnessed some close racing. James Maybury returned to form and broke away from the chasing pack to lead for most of the race and ultimately take another race win. Charlie Wheatley was second with McKenzie Evans in third.

Louie Holt continued to dominate the 125cc class

Louie Holt continued his dominance of the 125cc class taking the lead from the get go and claiming his sixth win of the season. Freddie Robinson put in a great performance to secure second. The MINI Quad race for riders aged five to nine-years took place over a shortened course, but they didn’t have it easy as the organiser put in some additional obstacles to test the skills of these young riders. Owen Stephens took the 90cc win and Harriet Mewse made it back-to-back wins in the 50cc class.

The afternoon’s adult racing got underway just after midday and, with rain threatening, it was going to be an interesting race. Luke Davies, back after missing two rounds, led the Expert Plus class away. He was chased by John Robson in the early stages, but eventually took the win and the overall ahead of Robson and Alex Bethell, who rounded out the podium in third. John Chew took the Expert class win – his first win of the championship - with Luke Richards second and Tiago Gomez third. In the Clubman class, it was two in succession for Will Dunlop with the win in front of Bradley Johnson and Paul Bennett, with his first podium of the season. Andrew Willcock continued his round five success in the Sportsman group with a win, closely followed by his daughter Vassna in second and young Jake Best in third.

Alex Bethall took third in the Expert Plus category

Mark Williams took the win again in the 4x4 Lights with Shaun Wealleans second and Steve Fogarty in third. Richard Harvey did the winning in the 4x4 Clubman class with Nick Key second and Laura Linton, returning from injury, in third. The 4x4 Expert class was as competitive as always and Stuart Marley took the win with Jason Wildman and Graham Guy not far behind in second and third.
