BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE HEADS TO MARGATE BEACH

October 14 2016.

Margate is gearing up to welcome thousands of off-road enthusiasts, their families and friends to its golden sands over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of October, as the BXUK Ovenden Plant Margate International Beachcross comes to town. The event is also the final round of the 2016 British Quad Beachcross championship.

The QRA organising team has no less than twenty-five seasons of race planning under its belt and this year’s Beachcross extravaganza brings the tenth year of visiting the north-east Kent holiday resort to a close. Over the past decade, the event has injected substantial revenue into the Kent seaside town and, regarding visitor interest, it has been bang on point and placed it firmly in the eye of competitors and spectators from throughout the UK and Europe.

The event will see the Margate seafront transformed into an open-air racing amphitheatre, with sporting gladiators ready to do battle on both two and four wheels across a packed programme of fifteen to twenty-minute races.

Some of Europe’s top sand-racing specialists will make the trip to the friendly resort, and the Brits will have their work cut out holding off the ‘invasion’. Reigning BXUK MCF Cromwell Truck Sales British Quad Beachcross Champion Carl Bunce, from Reading, will be intent on maintaining his current series lead as he defends his title.

Practice starts at 10.00am on both days, followed by a minimum of 12 action-packed races lasting around twenty minutes each day. Unusually for an event of this calibre, spectating is free.
