BRITS RULE 4X4 CLASS AT GONCOURT

June 13th, 2019.

The two-man team of Steve Atkins and Simon David won the 4x4 class at the gruelling French Goncourt 10-hour endurance last weekend. The Can-Am mounted pilots were closely followed over the line by Derek Burns and Alex Bethell, also riding Can-Am Renegades, whilst Jason Wildman and Austrian team-mate Jay Gröpl finished third on Polaris Scramblers.

The event heralded the inaugural outing ‘in anger’ for former multi-Brit quad champ Wildman on his ATVs Only/Wildman/Polaris UK Project X quad. In the week leading up to the event, Wildman and partner Tracey Lloyd burnt the midnight oil, putting the finishing touches to the machine by fitting (amongst others) DWT Sector 3 wheels, Jay Parts Polaris-special components, Terache Atlas tyres, PEP PB1 suspension, Demon XHD axles and Fasst Flexx handlebars.

The machine certainly looked the part, and Wildman reckons it’s got a lot more to give yet; “The track, which ran over seven and a bit kilometres, was fast and flowing and I was able to put in some really quick and consistent lap times. The Project quad handled brilliantly and proved itself to be something very special in its first outing. We’re really excited to see what the future brings.”
