FIRST BLOOD TO ENGLAND IN NATIONS CUP

England has taken an early lead in the Nations Cup after Stefan Murphy and Paul Holmes took the top two places at the opening round of the Willcock Holeformers British Championship at Hawkstone Park last week.


The pair amassed a total of 273 points over the three races to give England a 53 point lead over Ireland, with Wales a distant third and Scotland fourth.

With Murphy and Holmes both on Yamaha it means the marque also has 273 points in the Manufacturers championship and leads by 21 points from Honda. KTM is third, Suzuki fourth and Can-Am fifth.

The next round of both championships will be part of round two of the British championship at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland on the 2nd of May, where the Irish will be looking to get their revenge.
