KNOWLES DOWN, BUT NOT OUT!

May 6th, 2019.

Former Youth champ Ayrton Knowles showed his mettle at the Nora-MX meeting yesterday. The 18-year-old recovered from an on-track incident, got back on his quad and finished the race but, clearly to those around him, was struggling as he crossed the line.

According to sister Maddie, “He was in a lot of pain and was struggling to breath. Thanks to some quick thinking and car lending (thank you Georgia Leggett), dad (Keith) took Ayrton to the closest hospital where he rapidly went downhill. The impact of his crash had caused his spleen to rupture resulting in internal bleeding. After surgery and a very long and scary night, my little fighter showed us what he’s made of. Although he has a long way to go in intensive care, he’s showing us what a real champion he is.”

Twenty-four hours later, and the family reports that he’s getting stronger by the minute but is extremely tired and in a lot of pain. The hospital staff have said that, if he carries on the way he is going, they will move him out of intensive care soon.

It’s obviously going to be a slow one … but, get well soon Ayrton!
