Lucas Oils has been confirmed as the title sponsor for Enduroland's 2016 Hare and Hounds Quad Championship. The series will consist of seven rounds, but round can be dropped, allowing a missed event for holidays or breakdown, or just plain bad luck.

All rounds will once again be contested on Saturdays with a 3.30pm start time for each two hour race. Initially this will be the only quad action offered by the club after a turbulent couple of years with very mixed support. It's make or break come March and if supported, then the Quad XC practice sessions will be back on the agenda. If not, then all quad activity at Enduroland will cease in March or even before that if entries are low.

Enduroland's Nigel Wheatley explains: 'We just need support for the Hare and Hound series for us to add XC practice into the mix. But with quad entries at an all time low for all cross country and non QX events, it will greatly depend on who is actually out there racing and who wants to support it.

"As everyone knows, Enduroland stemmed from a quad only background, and the first ever UK quad show some ten years ago. Recently we have had to change all operations to solo only and also bombproof our insurance and race activity licences, which does not now include 'mixed' quad and solo practice.

"With just two or three quads attending some practice sessions, it is just not viable to offer quad only days at this stage.

"The racing will form part of our existing solo weekends. So at least we are trying our best to keep quads alive at the club. Any riders who wish to race with us in 2016 can visit the Southern and Midlands Quad Hare and Hounds page at Facebook and add your name class and race number.
