MENGELIS RETURNS

September 20th, 2018.

Two-time European Champion Edgars Mengelis makes a welcome return to quad racing this weekend after a two-year absence when he leads his native Latvia in the Quad Cross of Nations.

Mengelis last rode in the event in 2015 when he led his country to second place overall and also won his two races. Since then he has been dabbling with motocross, but has been convinced to return to lead his country by the Latvian federation after it sat out last year’s Nations.

"It is a great pleasure for me to return to quads and I feel very good,” said Mengelis. “The track is also well known to me because I won there at a European Championship round in 2016.

“My Latvian team members this year don’t have a lot of experience racing abroad, so my role is as much as a coach sharing my experience with them, so that together we can get a good result," he added.

His teammates are Emil Sigadev and Valery Kuzmin, who raced in the Latvian Championship this year plus selected European Championship rounds.
