Newly crowned British QX champion Paul Winrow, runner-up Carl Bunce and seventh-placed championship finisher Stefan Murphy represented Great Britain at the Markelo sand track in Holland this weekend for the annual Quadcross of European Nations.

A sterling effort by the lads saw them finish in third place overall behind the Dutch sand specialists and a strong French team.

Said team manager Chris Murphy; “I’m delighted by the performance of our three riders. They bonded well and worked together as a strong unit, producing some of the best riding I have witnessed. This was always going to be an emotional event for the guys following on from Connor Smith’s incident last year, but they did his memory proud. My goal was to get the team on the podium and that’s what they did – job done!”

Team Ireland, consisting of David Cowan, Dean Colhoun and Mark McLernon finished sixth overall.
