TOP QUAD TURNOUT FOR RAW4

March 17th, 2017.

A fantastic turn out of Quad riders entered round one of the new RAW4 series at Driffield. This new series runs alongside five RAW Solo weekends, and overall series positions will be a part of RAW Enduro’s big end of season presentation night for all three RAW Championships.

Jack Naylor was the man on his game in the Expert 2WD drive class. Jack took the lead on lap one, then settled into a safe and steady pace. He was caught at one point by Clubman 2WD rider John Naylor, but Jack then upped his pace in the closing stages to take the win. Matt Alberti had a solid second place finish ahead of Davey Nixon. Katie Hodgson was in great form in the Expert 4WD class taking the win and third best performance overall.

The largest class of the day was the Clubman 4WD class with Stu Marley taking the win; Laura Linton placed runner-up after holding off Graham Guy who finished in third place. Local quad newcomer Dean Foster had a poor day at the office when a first lap skip saw his quad climb a bank and snap the handlebars, meaning his race had ended before it had begun.

John Naylor took the Clubman 2WD class first place trophy with Clyde Thompson in second. Gareth Dudley struggled on with muddy grips to just hold off local man Paul Robinson for third place after the two and a half hour battle. The Farm Class was taken by Keedon Forrest, who eventually had to finish via the pits with one corner of his quad missing after tagging a tree.

All in all, RAW4 got off to a great start. Feedback on course design was good, and suggestions will be taken on board for Round 2 when the series visits Lee Dell near Rochdale on April the 29th for a true Cross Country hilltop RAW4 Event.
