WALKER SHINES AT SKEGGY

9th November, 2019.

Harry Walker blasted his PAR Homes Zip Racing Yamaha to his third successive AMCA Skegness Beach Race win today, ahead of Sheldon Seal, Weston victor Jamie Morgan, and Oli Sansom.

Walker, Seal and Morgan were the only riders to post 21 laps before the North Sea tide cut the race short by some 19 minutes. Sansom was the only rider on 20 laps.

Walker led off the start, but early-race traffic saw him dip to third for a couple of laps, leaving Morgan to take the lead and Seal second. Morgan led the charging quad pack until around half race distance, at which point Walker made it back through to the front. Morgan then held second for a few laps before Seal relegated him to third. Walker didn’t have it all his own way out front though as a battling Seal was all over his rear wheel in the closing stages of the challenging event.

Walker posted the fastest lap of the race of 4:13.799 on lap six and kept the attacking Seal at bay to take the win with a slim, yet hard-fought margin, of just over 15 seconds. Behind them, Morgan finished third and Sansom, who started in third, secured fourth and held that position to the chequered flag. Harry Miller pulled up from 15th to complete 19 laps and take a strong fifth-place finish.

Further back in the field, Alfie Walker showed his mettle by never giving up and picking his way through the packed Skegness dunes, charging from 31st to 13th overall with 16 laps to his credit. Ben Russell made a good finish from an eventful race which saw him yo-yo from the back to mid field throughout. He also completed 16 laps and finished 15th.

Laura Linton was the top female rider, finishing 24th out of a 71-strong line up and a creditable 15 laps under her belt. Elsewhere, young Scot Robbie Wood, also on 15 laps, finished 26th. Wood, along with Sansom and others, now heads north for the Ecosse Winter Series and Quad Racing Scotland championship tomorrow.
