December 22nd, 2017.

The second of the four-round Ecosse XC Rock Oil Winter Series returns to the deep sandy track of Dunbar on the south-east coast of Scotland on Sunday the 7th of January.

An impressive 17 quads lined up for the opening round of the Ecosse XC Winter Series at Dunbar on the south east coast of Scotland, and at least 24 are expected to turn up for round two.

A trio of former Scottish Nationals champs head up the championship, with Murray Graham, who won the round with two wins and a second, on 132 points, ahead of John Mitchell in second on 120, and Leon Beda in third on 116. Soon-to-be-crowned 2017 Scottish champ Michael Brewis is in fifth on 111 points. But, whilst Graham was a force to be reckoned with at the first round, you can never rule out the experienced boy,s and it’s a safe bet that both Mitchell and Beda will be fired up when the racing gets underway again at Dunbar early in January. There are a few riders, such as Ayrton Knowles and Harry Carmichael, travelling up from the north of England too, so the competition is set to be fierce.

Commenting on his return to competitive racing, Mitchell said; “I came to this event to get bike time as I’m training for Le Touquet. It’s the first time I’ve properly racing this year and I’m buzzing. I’m impressed at how well run the event is. The club has done a great job – it could rival some of the European events, and I’ll be back for the second round in January.”

Equally impressed, Beda will be back for round two and has signed up for the full championship. “I don’t do second, so I’ll be putting in some training in time for the second round!”

Round 1 results; 1. Murray Graham. 2. John Mitchell. 3. Leon Beda. 4. Lorne Sinclair. 5. Michael Brewis. 6. Mark Wilson.

Signing on for the second round opens on Saturday the 6th of January from 2pm and again from 7am the following day. The action-packed programme will get underway with practice on the dot of 8.30am.
