CONSISTENCY PAYS OFF FOR MCLERNON

June 30th, 2021

The NETT Quad Club hosted the second round of the ACU British Quad Championship at Fatcat Moto Parc last weekend.

Mark McLernon took the overall win, despite not winning any of the races. He battled with the rest of the hard-charging pack throughout all three races, and his second-place finishes showed that consistency does pay off.

Current leader Dafydd Davies took a holeshot in race one, but within one lap McLernon took over out front and Harry Walker slotted in behind. Walker worked hard to close the gap and blasted into the lead toward the end of the race. McLernon held second with Davies third. Dean Dillon took fourth, just ahead of Oli Sansom.

The second race saw Walker charge into the first corner to secure the holeshot and he led until around half race distance, at which point his quad cut out and Sansom took the advantage and the win. McLernon was second and Walker recovered to cross the line in third. Davies was a close fourth with Murray Graham and Dillon behind him.

The track conditions were difficult by the final British moto. The holeshot went to Davies, but problems saw him drop back, and Walker blasted past. He looked to be on for his second win of the day but mechanical issues on the final lap brought his charge to a halt, with the chequered flag in sight. Sansom had passed McLernon a few laps earlier and was delighted to take the win.
