The first day of the second round of the EMX Quadcross Championship got underway today at Foxhill MX. Three Brits were in the top 10 out of a line-up of 24 riders.A freshly-watered track welcomed the best quadcross riders in Europe to the popular, undulating Swindon MX track. The morning’s pre-qualifying saw reigning EMX Champ Harry Walker out front with a lap time of 2:16.195, ahead of Randy Naveaux with a margin of 0.299 seconds.
In this afternoon’s qualifying race, Walker and Dafydd Davies emerged as early leaders, however, a rare error on the first lap from Walker, where he spun out but amazingly managed to stay on and control his quad, saw the EMX Champ drop down to eighth position.
Manfred Zienecker took advantage of this set back and passed both Walker and Davies to go out front He led the race, until current points-leader Turrini, took control.
Davies held a top four position throughout qualifying. Mark McLernon and Walker battled towards the back of the top 10. McLernon held a solid sixth position, while Walker was closing hard in the final few laps of the qualifying race. He pulled up to within less than one second behind McLernon.
The top three qualifiers were - Randy Naveaux, Patrick Turrini, Manfred Zienecker.
The British riders qualified – 4th Dafydd Davies, 6th Mark McLernon, 7th Harry Walker, 13th Aaron Haslett, 14th Ayrton Knowles, 20th Oli Sansom, 21st Murray Graham, 22nd Louie Holt, 24th Reggie Binskin.
The first race of the second round of the EMX Quadcross Championship at Foxhill starts at 11.30 GMT tomorrow, the 25th of May, followed by race two at 2.15pm.
