Round 1, Mazagan, Morocco, 26th-27th September 2026

The opening round of the 2026-2027 FIM Sand Races World Championship saw some of Europe’s best quad racing sand specialists travel to Morocco last weekend.

The Belgium riders were out in force, dominating the opening Quad race. Randy Naveaux finished on a total of eleven laps with a lead of more than three minutes over his compatriot Oliver Vandendijck, with Dirk Schelfhout completing the Belgian one-two-three another seven-and-a-half seconds further back. Crossing the line fourth and fifth, Frenchman Alois Waloszek and Glenn De Swarte, from Belgium, were the final riders to finish on the same lap as Naveaux.

Naveaux produced a repeat performance on Sunday afternoon to win on nine laps, but this time his advantage was reduced to just one-and-a-half minutes as, the UK’s reigning Quad Champ, Harry Walker bounced back from engine difficulties experienced on Saturday. Vandendijck finished third on track, for second overall.

Vet Graham Guy finished 20th in the overall championship standings and 9th in class. 

Round 2 of the FIM-sanctioned Championship will see the quad racers take the journey to Bibione in Italy towards the end of October.
