LIAM COFFEY WINS WORLD’S BEST YAMAHA SPORTS TECHNICIAN AWARD FOR QBRUS & QBS POWERSPORTS
December 3rd, 2025.
If you’re taking your quad (or motorcycle) into the QuadBikesRUs workshop then you’re in safe hands as ace technician Liam Coffey recently scooped the prestigious Yamaha World Sports Technician award, held as part of the manufacturer’s 2025 World Technician Grand Prix.Representing Essex-based QBS Powersports, QBRUS and Yamaha Motors UK, 44-year-old Coffey beat the best in the world to emerge victorious.
Coffey won the UK leg of the Grand Prix which took him to the Netherlands to line up against Yamaha’s top European motorcycle technicians. The top three from Europe, representing the UK, Turkey and Spain, were then invited to contest an intense practical and theory final, in November, at Yamaha’s HQ in Hamamatsu, Japan. Coffey was the hands down winner in the Sports Model class.
“We are so proud of Liam,” said QBS Powersports/QBRUS managing director Kerry Parker. “We knew he was the best of the best and smashing this competition to beat every Yamaha Motors sports model technician in the world, confirms that.”
Coffey went out to Japan with Sam Watson, of the Yamaha Motors UK Training Academy, determined to give it his all. He was also accompanied by quad racing veteran, his fellow QBRUS technician, Geoff Otway – who has also enjoyed success this year, winning the Kenny Retro class on his Leager’s Banshee at PDV in August.
This is such a boost for Liam, everyone at QBRUS and QBS as well as Yamaha Motors UK,” added Parker. “We believe our workshop is the best!”
