The Dragon Quad Racing club headed north for the sixth round of its 2021 ATVs Only British XC series when it travelled to Shay Gate Farm, near Colne in Lancashire, on the 12th of September.

In the Youth classes, the 250 Hybrid group was first to go. Charlie Wheatley led the pace from start, to finish with Ollie Pinder in second and Chloe Maybury third. James Maybury led from the end of lap one to claim victory in the 250 Air-cooled class, with Cai Evans second and Louie Holt third. In the 125cc class, it was a win for Owen Stephens from Ronnie Burnett with Joseph Hayes in third on his 125cc debut.

The Mini Quad race for riders aged 5-to-11 years took place over a shortened course for 30-minutes. It was no less of a challenge though for the 11 hardy racers who lined up ready to get stuck in. The 100cc Class was won by Luca Balsano with Luke Waddington taking first in the 90cc group and Alfie Chew in the 50cc.

The afternoon’s Adult race started in near perfect weather conditions. Jamie Morgan was once again the man to beat and took an early lead over the rest of the pack – he won the Expert Plus and took the overall Adult win on the day.

Laurence Stopps, on his DQR enduro debut, took the expert class win from John Chew - another newbie this season - and Jake Best was third. Bradley Johnson once again won the clubman class, with Harvey Moore second and Jack Evans third. In the sportsman class Tom Bishop was out front, ahead of Andy Price and Borja Castro. Shaun Wealleans and Neil Martin continued their battle in the 4x4 lights class with Martin just edging Wealleans for the victory. Adam Plumb was third. In the 4x4 Clubmans, Joe Bacon took his first win of the class, with Laura Linton second and Stefan Cook third. The 4x4 expert class was as competitive as always, and a returning Steve Atkins led the highly competitive pack of riders from the start to take the win from Simon David in second and Graham Guy third.

Next up on the DQR calendar is round 7 on the 26th of September at Greenhall Farm, SY22 5LG.
