NORA-MX HOSTS FINAL BRITISH AND PENULTIMATE CLUB ROUND

September 21st, 2021

The NORA-MX event at Cusses Gorse last weekend incorporated the final round of the 2021 British QX Championship and the ninth round of its own Club Championship.

Held at the popular Cusses Gorses track, the weather was cloudy, but dry, and stayed fine for the packed programme of races.

The British QX Championship was won by Mark McLernon, and while he cleaned up with three wins on the day, he had Harry Walker, Dafydd Davies and Oli Sansom to contend with. McLernon took the overall, ahead of Walker, Davies and Sansom.

Davies rounded off a great British Championship season finishing as series Vice Champ, meanwhile Sansom stayed strong and consistent throughout to take the third slot. Walker overcame adversity to secure championship fourth and Dean Dillon, the newly-crowned Under-21 Champion, was fifth. Alfie Walker, contesting the main British QX Championship for the first time, finished an impressive sixth.

In the Nora-MX series, the Clubman Elite raced with the Masters A group. Race 1 started with an early lead for Liam Garbett, but Luke Berlyn was on a charge, blasting into the lead going on to take a great win. Behind, Zak Beevers fought through into third with Scott Berlyn taking advantage of a great start to take fourth. In Race 2 Luke Berlyn didn’t leave anything to chance, taking the lead after a few laps and going on to take his second win of the day. Liam Garbett battled through to take second just ahead of Dylan Mckenna with Zak Beevers fourth. Dylan Mckenna took second with Zak Beevers third.

In the Masters A, Edward Davies, celebrating his 50th birthday, took three great wins, he battled with Paul Winrow who took second in the first two races, but didn’t finish the last race, so second overall went to Greg Fisher with Darren Bridge third.

In the Clubman class, Lewis Painter had a great day taking three wins and holding the championship lead. He battled all day with Harry Koller who was second overall, Will Mead took third overall. The Masters B group was dominated by Matthew Kirk with three solid wins. Stumpy Lawrence battled hard all day to take second overall just a few points ahead of Steven Smart
