RETURN OF THE GREAT 8

August 11th, 2020.

The Quad Racing Association UK (QRA UK) is meeting these challenging times head on with the return of the popular Great 8, an eight-hour quad event which will be opened up to two, three or four wheels.

The 14th edition of the Great 8 takes place on its traditional August bank holiday weekend, the 29th and 30th, in the Newbury Showground, Berkshire.

The 8-hour Quad endurance, for solo or team riders, will run on the Sunday but, prior to that, there will be additional events packing out the Saturday. The programme looks something like this;

Saturday
Event 1. Two-and-a-half-hour Youth Quad race with Mini Quads joining in one hour from the end.
Event 2. Time for some nostalgia with Evo Quads and ATC/Trikes taking to the 7-8km lap for an hour-long event.
Event 3. Two-hour Mini Bike event for both youth and adult riders. Single riders or teams can enter.
Event 4. Big Kids on Kids Quads (and trikes). This is the serious one …. Adults aged 18-and-over on standard youth quads on a short 40-minute course.

Sunday
Event 5. The big one. The Great 8 8-Hour Endurance event. Some take the challenge alone as an Ironman/lady and others as a team with two riders sharing a machine or one each.

The venue is right next to the M4 at junction 13 for the A34. It has hard-standing parking for the team pit bays and great access roads. The course itself has the traditional Great 8 flowing sections, long straights and even a section of road. Plus woodland, jumps, undulations, banked turns and an oval.

All entries must be completed in advance of the event and contactless, regulations, schedule and online entry is available HERE.

Closing date for entries is the 19th of August 2020.

The organisers will closely follow the government guidelines, while endeavouring to provide a fun weekend. This unfortunately means that spectators will not be allowed into the event.
