SANSOM LEADS NORA-MX PRO CLASS

July 22nd, 2024.

Currently leading the Nora-MX Pro Championship, Oli Sansom is calling time on his EMX Quadcross Championship charge in order to fully concentrate on winning the Nora-MX title.

Never one to give up, he continues to keep his head down and get on with improving his results, while building his servicing and rider coaching business.

On the workshop front, Sansom’s facilities include engine rebuilds, aluminium and steel welding, PEP suspension service and set-up as well as other services aimed at improving the way race machines handle and perform.

British Masters rider Lee Waring has enjoyed the benefits of Sansom’s set-up service and training. He recently had his PEP shocks sorted and then went on to complete a day of training where he and Oli concentrated on the quad’s set-up. “Lee went out in the morning before the shocks were set up correctly and was getting tired very quickly,” said Sansom. “Once we serviced the suspension and had the set up tailored specifically for him, he was a different rider. He finished three good sessions which involved training, starts, cornering, triple jumps and stuff and said he felt he could ride for far longer, whereas fatigue was a big factor at the start of the day.”

Oli’s own racing journey has seen him contest Nora-MX and NETT club championships as well as tackling a couple of rounds of the British Quad Championship. In the British Championship at Duns, he took two holeshots and was just a few points off a podium position.

At the fourth round of the EMX Quad Championship in Poland in June, Oli endured a DNF in moto 1 but picked up the pace in the second moto where he ran in sixth place for much of the race, finishing a creditable seventh. “Considering the overall drama of that weekend and the fact that I wasn’t really mentally ready for the whole European thing, I was happy enough with my result in Poland. However, at best, I could get a top ten position and so I’d rather take time out from the championship now and concentrate on it in 2025.

“My big focus now is to win the Nora-MX Pro Championship and add another title to my belt to join my NETT titles. It’s great racing with the Nora-MX club and I’m really looking forward to the next round at Little Silver in August.”

“I’m back involved with training down at my old boxing gym Aston ABC. Thanks to Brod, John, Homer and all the trainers who have really helped to get me mentally and physically back on my toes. I’m also working with Aston’s training techniques with quad and elite young MX riders - I now train with the MX Goat school at my private track.”
