Dragon Quad Racing’s first-ever double-header weekend presented something of a steep learning curve for both club organisers and riders as they tackled the new-style event over the weekend of the 24th & 25th July.

Multi-British Quad Champ Jason Wildman was out in force in the 4x4 class to get to grips with the newly-introduced Sprint format on the Saturday, which featured six individual laps against the clock. He then went on to contest the club’s traditional two-and-a-half-hour enduro on Sunday.

Said Wildman; “Saturday was a first with the introduction of the Sprint format against the clock. Easing myself in, I gently gathered momentum. By the end of the day I finished second overall and was the first 4x4 home – job done!

“Sunday saw the usual DQR enduro format. I took the holeshot from the start and pushed on in the first couple of laps, but I was still riding within my limits. My ATVs Only Polaris XP1000 was running like it was on rails. The PEP shocks were making it so much easier over the tough terrain we race in. By the end of lap two I was nearly five minutes up on second place. Unfortunately, I then picked up multiple punctures in one of my tyres and had to settle for fourth place.

“It was an absolutely brilliant weekend with DQR. A big thank you goes out to John Chew for helping me get to the finish. I’ll take the positives out of the race with me - the speed and consistent lap times were on point. All in all, I am very happy. Now to prep for the Isle of Man enduro and keep the wheels turning.
